SHIPPING AND RECEIVING SUPERVISOR



REPORTS TO: Materials Manager



STATUS: Salary - Exempt



DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing

SUMMARY OF POSITION:



Plans, directs, and controls, shipping and receiving warehouse activities. Ensures proper procedures are followed for the handling and storage of all incoming and outgoing material. Responsible for the upkeep of the warehouse, shipping area, receiving area, shipping and receiving docks, and the outside warehouse. Coordinate logistics for inbound and outbound product as required



PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

●  Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices, and ensures that all equipment is in safe operating condition and meets or exceeds OSHA Standards.



●  Comply with all QMS / EMS procedures and work instructions as it pertains to the position description.




KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:



1.  Support the company’s commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment by utilizing personal protective equipment and proper attire in keeping with safety standards while adhering to company policy and OSHA regulations. Responsible to address any unsafe practices by any employee that are witnessed in any area on the shop floor or in the office.


 


2.  Prioritize and coordinate daily activities for associates, including Team Leaders, Material Handlers, and pickers. Establishes priorities, monitors progress, resolves problems and reports on results. Schedules employees, including overtime and vacation approvals.



3.  Ensure team members are properly trained and that all initial and ongoing training objectives are met for assigned team members.



4.  Directs the receiving and distribution of all incoming materials (raw materials, purchased products), shipment of products to the customers and all other inbound and outbound shipments to make certain that all incoming materials are processed in accordance with the company procedures, including correct part identification, counts, packaging, labels and documentation. Ensures FIFO procedures are being followed.



5.  Develop competencies with their team, including Team Leaders, focusing on; skill development and continuous process improvements, develop an understanding of the overall business objectives and problem solving.



6.  Enforce all corporate and plant policies and procedures to provide fair and equitable treatment for all team members.



7.  Responsible for housekeeping in the following areas: docks and adjacent areas, incoming and finished goods material warehouses. Maintains goods in orderly manner, neatly packaged and stacked.



8.  Develop, implement and maintain communication and feedback between Dock Team Leaders, Production Supervisor and Team Leader, Peer Supervisors, and Business Units.



9.  Ensures Lean principles and standard work are followed.



10.  Conduct Layered Process Audits within assigned area on a weekly basis.



11.  Seek continuous improvement ideas and solutions. Assist in implementing Employee Involvement suggestions and encourage a self-directed workforce.



12.  Initiates continuous improvement and corrective action activities with subordinates.



13.  Safeguards all inventories of materials against damage and or theft.



14.  Responsible for maintenance of all shipping/receiving equipment including forklifts, Hilo scales, bar code machines, scanners, handcarts, etc.



15.  Assist in physical inventory counting and validation activities.



16.  Requisitions all material and supplies required by the receiving group or Dock Coordinators and submits to the Materials Manager.



17.  Coordinates shipping/receiving window times and carriers with planning group and Customer Service-Shipping Administrators.



18.  Responsible for daily returnable container counts and maintaining a log of all containers returned from the customers.



19.  Performs all other management functions as required; included are any work assignments related to the efficient flow of work within JAC Products, Inc.



20.  Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices such as; utilizing personal protective equipment and proper attire in keeping with safety standards.



21.  Comply with all IATF & ISO-14001 procedures and work instructions related to your job description.



22.  Performs all other functions as required; included are any work assignments relating to the efficient flow of work within JAC Products Inc.






Job Requirements



SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


Note:  Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required for all new hires in all positions.



●  Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial/Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred



EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



●  Three to Five years of experience in receiving, material handling and warehouse management are required.


●  Supervision of hourly associates preferred.


●  Knowledge of Federal and local transportation laws preferred.

●  Ability to operate a pallet jack and powered material handling vehicles.


●  The employee must occasionally be able to lift items weighing 40-50 pounds.


●  While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near powered motor vehicles, power tools, & automated assembly fixtures.


●  May be required to travel / air travel to meet with customers, or other JAC locations.
