Job Description

For over 50 years, JAC Products has been designing, engineering and manufacturing products as unique as your needs. We’re the acknowledged leader in automotive exterior functional components, industrial and structural extrusions and assemblies, and a broad range of standard and custom extrusions. Our company continues to set the bar for innovative partnerships and products and our Supplier base is a key component of this.  We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead our team of buyers and senior buyers, and to support and develop our suppliers and continue to lead the industry.




 


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR THIS ROLE:


1.       Responsible for establishing and achieving annual goals consistent with corporate goals, controlling the cost of purchased materials within budget and generating cost reduction action plans.


2.       Develop, train, motivate and provide direction to the Purchasing team.


3.       Identify, select and develop overall cost effective sources for purchases of direct materials.


4.       Investigate and implement cost reduction opportunities through alternative vendors, materials and/or processes.


5.       Maintain good supplier relationships while professionally resolving issues (internal and external).  Become familiar with different manufacturing processes and administer agreements and negotiate contracts for purchases as required.


6.       Actively engage in Program Management review (new product launch), design reviews and design strategies for new products to obtain assignments for the purchasing team and discuss any concerns if any.


7.       Manage material related engineering changes, and identify, investigate and develop minority sources.


8.       Represent Purchasing on various cross-functional teams, as well as coordinate with other staff activities, such as Marketing/Sales, Industrial Engineering, Product Engineering, Materials, etc.


9.       Visit various supplier locations and JAC facilities regularly to become familiar with different manufacturing processes and build a rapport with suppliers.


Job Requirements


SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:



 


§  Knowledge of Purchasing Practices, Financial Principles and contracts


§  Strong negotiation and analytical skills



§  Advanced computer skills, knowledge with MS Office Suite, purchasing and scheduling systems (MAPICS is a plus)


§  Knowledge of Automotive Purchasing Process (PPAP, etc.), manufacturing processes and Bill of Materials (BOM).


§  Management/Leadership/Motivation skills



§  Excellent inter-personal communication skills, both oral and written


§  Self-starter, independent and ability to make decisions



                               



PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:



Note:       Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required for all new hires in all positions. 



 



§  Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related



 



PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:



 



·         3-5 years purchasing experience and/or supervisory experience in the automotive manufacturing environment
