Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for managing Project Engineering, FEA, Testing, Models, Engineering Administration and ECR/ECN Process, New Product Development, Interface and Assistance in New Business Development and New Strategic Technologies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ü  Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices, and ensures that all equipment is in safe operating condition and meets or exceeds OSHA Standards.


ü  Comply with all QMS / EMS procedures and work instructions as it pertains to the position description.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  1. Ability to motivate and manage Project Engineers, FEA analyst, test and proto technician and Administration Department to meet JAC goals and objectives as a world class Automotive Supplier.
  2. Responsible for employee evaluations and merit pay increases.
  3. Assign work load to those supervised efficiently.  Assume engineering responsibilities for overflow projects.
  4. Develop and implement processes to ensure products exceed all customers’ engineering requirements.
  5. Communicate status of programs to upper management.
  6. Assure entire staff has proper training to complete their assigned tasks.
  7. Assist with budget creation and monitoring of spending to assure budget is met.         
  8. Implement engineering disciplines and create new systems that will reduce product lead time to our customers.
  9. Responsible to maintain design guidelines and encourage best engineering practices also to utilize TGR/TGW. 
  10. Responsible for matching resources to workload for efficiency including membership of design teams for all projects.
  11. Responsible for the career path of personnel to advance their skill levels through training.
  12. Performs all other functions as required; included are any work assignments relating to the efficient flow of work within JAC Products Inc.


SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

               

  • Excellent communication skills  - both written & oral
  • Proficient knowledge in timeline management, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, aluminum extrusion and fabrication. 
  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of Problem Solving / Process Improvement analysis, tools and techniques
  • Advanced technical proficiency in product design and development tools and processes
  • Applied knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and standardized work


  • Understanding and working knowledge of the OEM customer specific requirements; deliverables and how to execute them
  • Ability to facilitate meetings efficiently and with regular cadence
  • Understanding of IATF 16949 requirements including audits and representation of Engineering Department responsibilities

Job Requirements

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Note:       Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required for all new hires in all positions. 


  • 4-year Engineering Degree

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:


  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the Auto Industry in an Engineering or Program Management Role.
  • Experience in the management and development of others.  This position will have 6+ direct reports.
  • Experience leading cost savings and performance improvement initiatives through within the manufacturing environment
