Job Description

Human Resources (HR) Generalist

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The incumbent in this role is accountable for the effective execution of human resources administration relating to benefits programs, employee relations, new employee onboarding, recruitment, training and development, and compliance.  The incumbent will also be directly engaged in the screening of employment candidates.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ü  Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices, and ensures that all equipment is in safe operating condition and meets or exceeds OSHA Standards.


ü  Comply with all QMS / EMS procedures and work instructions as it pertains to the position description.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  1. Process the weekly payroll changes, life event processing, and enrollment processing necessary for the management of Company benefit programs.
  2.  Issue required documentation to employees regarding benefit programs within required timeframes.
  3. Conducting onboarding and new hire orientation activities.
  4. Review and screen employment candidates based on criteria agreed with the Corporate HR Manager and applicable Department Head.
  5. Prepare and issue job postings; research and propose new sourcing recruitment methods, schedule candidates for interviews, and preparing employment offer letters.
  6. Manage the summer internship program.
  7. Maintains the HRIS records and produce reports as requested from the database.
  8. Administers employee engagement surveys, including the New Hire Satisfaction Survey and the Employee Engagement Survey.  Provide summary reporting data of results.
  9. Administers the Exit Interview Survey process; analyze data and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
  10. Supports HR Manager in various organization development activities including but not limited to: performance management and training needs identification.
  11. Prepare and file the EEO-1 annual report.
  12. Administers human resources policies and procedures for the corporate functional departments.  Will also assist in the development and implementation of Company-wide employment policies and procedures.
  13. Facilitates the resolution of employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations at the direction of, and guidance from the Corporate Human Resources Manager.


SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

               

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of HRIS functionality – Ceridian background preferred  
  • Working knowledge of basic employment law and the impact on daily Human Resources functions
  • Foster and maintain a team-oriented working environment that allows for individual differences and provides for individual growth.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Note:       Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required for all new hires in all positions

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management required
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • One to four years of practical experience in Human Resources
  • Experience in a manufacturing/automotive setting preferred
