Job Description

 The Director Program Management is responsible for leading a team of professional program managers with the shared goal of ensuring that every new product launch is executed on-time, to customer specifications, and within the established financial goals set for the program.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


 



  1. Lead the team of Program Managers and serve as the champion within JAC Products for the timely, effective launch of all new products.

  2. Establish and maintain the JAC Products Product Development System that provides the framework within which all new product launches and identified engineering changes are managed.

  3. Ensure that all departmental staff, and other JAC Products employees are educated and knowledgeable of the JPDS – and possess a detailed knowledge of their individual responsibilities within the system for specific functions (ME, QE, Material Planner, etc).

  4. Lead the weekly program review and gate review meetings with specific responsibility for effective report-outs, and ensuring the integrity of the JPPS system, and the intended standards within the system.

  5. Provide direction, coaching, and guidance to Program Managers to address problems and/or challenges facing new product launches.

  6. Develop Program Managers to effectively lead and to engage themselves in all three aspects of new product launches; Sales, Engineering/Design, Operations Implementation/Execution.

  7. Actively support Program Managers in driving solutions for customer and processing issues during program launches.

  8. Manage and track all financial metrics for new program launches to program budget; control program margin performance, tooling cost, prototype cost, engineering development and testing (ED&T) cost,  and capital spending.  

  9. Facilitate collaboration and coordination across the organization to support the timely, effective launch of new products.

  10. Develop and manage new program capital and tooling plan.

  11. Oversee and manage tooling management system (TMS) for all new programs.

  12.  Interview and hire staff, and oversee staff training.

  13. Assess and develop the departmental staff members for individual job mastery, career advancement, succession, and overall teamwork.


 


SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:


 


§  Broad knowledge of Program Management, Manufacturing Management, Product Engineering, Customer Relationship Management, New Product Launch Systems and all related requirements - and all related systems.


§  Expertise in developing processes and systems for new product launch.


§  Working knowledge of business finance and the economic impact of operational business decisions.


§  Effective interpersonal communication and relationship skills required to maintain a team-oriented working


§  Problem Solving Capabilities – with ability to utilize problem solving tools.


§  Strong formal written and verbal communication skills necessary for business presentations; both internal audiences and customers/suppliers.


§  Highly organized; effective planner.


§  High level of business ethics in all job responsibilities. 

Job Requirements

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


Note:       Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required for all new hires in all positions. 


 


§  Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) preferably with focus in areas such as; Manufacturing Operations, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or Finance


§  Master’s Degree, MBA, or the equivalent is preferred


 


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:


 


§  Ten (10) or more years of Operations Management in a complex manufacturing/final assembly environment with background in program management.


§  Several years of meaningful Tier 1 or 2 Automotive/OEM Part manufacturing experience


§  Strong working knowledge of the following subject areas: Program Management, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production management, Quality systems, etc.


§  Strong knowledge of OEM customer expectations, quality standards/systems, customer relationship management.
